Elton John's "and the house fell down" as commentary on Job
"The sun is up and the shades are all pulled down
I'm more paranoid with every little sound
Like the leaf blower blowing the leaves around
And a siren wailing on the other side of town"
I'm more paranoid with every little sound
Like the leaf blower blowing the leaves around
And a siren wailing on the other side of town"
The modest beginnings of the first verse does not betray any deep existential ponderment, a leaf blower, a siren, and pulling down are all mundane themes, John still invokes such timeless images such as the rising sun and the terror of the wind but they are most definately muted by the mundane. In the second verse John does introduce the theme of suffering, and remorse. John tells us that he could be in many places, but what is crucial is that here he is on the precipice, having followed a poor diet of cocaine and wine for three days.John then in this couplet of verses eases us into themes of suffering and angst, whilst backing the apparent misery with an upbeat and groovy piano composition. It is however the chorus that rivals Job, the wolf here representing suffering keeps blowing down his house and what can John do but shake his fist at God?

How fly is Nate Dogg?
The is no question that Nate D-o-double-g is indeed fly. But how fly? That is what I wish to examine in this post. Through a few thought experiments.
"Thought experiments are devices of the imagination used to investigate the nature of things. Thought experimenting often takes place when the method of variation is employed in entertaining imaginative suppositions. They are used for diverse reasons in a variety of areas, including economics, history, mathematics, philosophy, and physics."
We shall now assess the most probable outcomes in the following imagined situations.

A poetic tribute to Black Uhuru
Christ and the de’il, one made flesh,
In the ash and the rubble, enmeshed,
In the sea and the air, reside,
The holy son and profane bride,
Formeth a mixture, foul and fair,
Blades of grass and strands of hair,
Seas of blood, and skies of clouds,
Beauty under dreadful shrouds,
God walks now, one crooked path,
Hand cups smoothly the de’il’s ass,
Side by side,
Most holy god and his wicked bride.
A star rise, a star fall
Build a garden, said the lord
And de’il said ‘for them the sword’
Out of birth come blood and guts
From throat and eye foul smelling pus
A simple petal shall decay
If you have yours, I’ll have my way
And thus it was god smote himself,
And made the de’il to spite himself,
Angels and devils piece a piece,
Shit and decay proceed the feast,
A star rise, a star fall
The pastor man, knows not his words
Preaching spotless mixture, wherein float turds
Turds that float he cannot see
Grey and red earth cannot be
Mead and dew, emotional slaughter
He knows not I lay with his daughter

Mind Piano Melody: The Obliteration of Sight, The Transformation of Waste in E Flat Major
“Dark, dark, dark, irrecoverably dark”
Samson Agonisties - John Milton
To be visually impaired may be a scourge to any prospective artist. Distortions in the visual plane prevent them from gazing into the true nature of things, and they can no longer distort reality, as there is no base reality to distort. However, in a few cases the visually impaired have actually turned the punishment applied to them by God into a blessing. This piece considers the influence of Monet’s cataracts in relation to the partial sightedness of contemporary artist Thomas Ruff and transposes them with the melody of Wagner’s Tristan and Isolude. Elements of Caravaggio add both a smooth melody but also contribute to the sensory assault, with bombastic choral sequences developed to underlie a rich and homely tune, which at once causes the listener to both relax, but also question the very nature of their own perception.
Piece for Mind Piano; Chronic in D
Below is a piece I just wrote for a revolutionary new instrument, the Mind Piano. In the future we shall all have these Mind Pianos implanted into our auditory cortex - the Brodmann areas 41 and 42. Simply by looking at the picture a cascade of action potentials shall flow though the neurones of our brains, giving rise to a majestical symphony within the confines of the interior of the skull.
Here it is:
It sounds a bit like Wagner/Dre to me.

An Extract From A Larger Piece
Spice 1, Lion of Judah [excerpt]
…Biblical undercurrents are not lacking in the seminal Spice
1 album "AmeriKKKa’s Nightmare". The moving "Face of a Desperate Man" chronicles
the struggles of a modern day Job in the bleak streets of urban Los Angeles. "Strap on The
Side" epitomises the code of Leviticus “an eye for an eye”. Even "Stickin'
to the 'G' Code" promotes the idea of a Law above commonplace and daily
considerations…
