The Decadence Of Man (an original work)

The Pope, Vicar of Christ, his Eminence, Christ's representative on earth. The snail, representing Freudian oedipal desire, the subconscious, and the decadent. The two evocative images are here combined, in ink (on paper). The artist truly feels that this image unearths two archetypal forms in the subconscious mind; holiness and scatology. Snails nourish themselves on decay, ingesting the old and shitting out the new, rebirth, evolutionary cycles, excretion, all are shown here opposite holiness, sanctity, imperialism, golden adornments and piety. Does not the presence of the snail amplify the successor of St Peter's gaze? Is not the essence of man here laid bare!

  1. I feel this in my soul, thank you for creating this masterpiece. I can now face my fears head on. It is like a fog has lifted from my thoughts as soon as I saw this. I dream of the Snope. He protects me as he stands at the foot of my bed. His soft gaze radiates trustfulness. He is holy as much as he is shit. He is the Snope. Thank you
